Mr. Poland was reared in a small southern Kentucky town that is not too far from Clarksville, Tennessee. He was an avid sports participant growing up which resulted in a basketball scholarship with a South Eastern Conference school which was followed by a four year stint with Uncle Sam’s Infantry during the Vietnam War. After leaving active duty with the Army, Mr. Poland continued his service in the Army National Guard and retired from that duty as a Colonel, Mr. Poland has remained active in civic matters during his career and is active in the Tennessee Association of Justice. Mr. Poland has been married forty-four years, has three children and seven grandchildren. He enjoys fly fishing and carpentry.
